Learn To Play (Ages 10 & Under)

Learn the Basics!

Getting started in hockey has never been easier or more convenient! This introductory program will teach your child the basic skills of skating, stick-handling, passing and shooting through (10) 1-hour lessons.

In addition, they will learn the importance of hardwork, teamwork and sportsmanship. Best of all, your child’s registration also includes a FREE brand new set of head to toe CCM hockey equipment custom fitted by our friends at Pure Hockey. Past participants are welcomed to join Learn to Play for another season or all three! However, they will not receive a set of equipment if they have participated in the program before.

Your program fee includes:

  • Free full set of equipment, including skates, for first time Learn to Play participants
    – This includes participation in a USA Hockey sanctioned program.
  • Family-friendly schedule with 10 weeks of 45-minute sessions
  • Professional instruction alongside Rangers staff
  • Special appearances by Rangers Alumni
  • 40 plus premier community rink partner locations across the Tri-State area.*IceTime Sports Complex will be hosting (2) 45-minute lessons for two groups of registrants every Saturday from 9/12/20 to 11/14/20.

Rookie League

Play the Game! Now that your child has the basics covered, let’s take it up a notch! Each player will have the chance to put their skills to the test in a fun and competitive environment. Participants will learn the basic game and team concepts, plus, they will build important characteristics on and off the ice: teamwork, responsibility, and respect. Once a week, for 10 weeks, your child will have the opportunity to play games led by Rangers staff. It is a fun way to meet new teammates and play some hockey!

Your $395 league fee includes:

  • 1 game and 1 practice session a week per 10-week season
  • No long distance travel as all games are hosted at your local rink
  • Guest coaching appearances from NYR Alumni and access to special events
  • Junior Rangers team jersey (limited to your first registration)

Format:

The league has been designed to offer families an experience for recreational players. Each week consists of 1 hour of games and 1 practice session per week led by the Rangers Hockey Development Team.
